The Village House Kalina

Enjoy Flavors Of Ukraine & Russia

At The Village House Kalina in La Mesa, our doors are open to everyone who loves a delicious home-cooked meal. We serve traditional Ukranian/Russian cuisine, as well as Polish, Georgian, and East European dishes in an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, and hospitality -  an atmosphere that reminds us of home.

Whether you hail from Ternopil (a city in Western Ukraine) as we did, right here in San Diego County, or anywhere else in the world, we know you'll enjoy the experience of dining with us. Our Chef de Cuisine has more than two decades of culinary experience. At The Village House Kalina, she's working her magic with recipes passed down from our great great grandmother!

Food is an important part of Ukranian/Russian culture, and we're delighted to share our heritage with you. Our menu features some of the most traditional dishes in Ukraine and Russia include "Ukrainian Borscht" (mouthwatering beef, beets, cabbage, carrots, peppers, onions potatoes and fresh herbs); "Vareniky/Pierogi" (elegant hand made dish of dumplings filled with potatoes & onions, boiled and then tossed in butter, served with a savory sauce); and our must try "Chakapuli" (melt in your mouth lamb shank, cooked in white wine, onions, tarragon leaves, Georgian plum sauce, and fresh herbs). If you're unfamiliar with our cuisine, we're happy to make recommendations.

So come in for an eccentric home-style dining experience, just like Babusya used to make!
